The world of Outlander has grown considerably since the very first book published in 1991. There are more time travelers than ever believed before, and the various short stories have added extra details to the universe and to individual character development.
So far in our Outlander Book Club, we’ve read through all the main books, all the Lord John Grey books, The Space Between, and A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows. We’ll be moving onto Virgins soon, but it’s some of the previous books that have led to me being far more curious about a few other Outlander characters, and now I need spinoffs for them.

Le Comte St. Germain
In Outlander season 2/Dragonfly in Amber, we met Le Comte St. Germain, who quickly became a threat to Claire and Jamie. He didn’t like the fact that Claire brazenly told people that his ship had people with smallpox, leading to everything on the ship being burned. I can’t really blame him for that, but what he did afterward put lives at risk all because of some money.
It would eventually lead to his death, though. Claire didn’t want to kill him, but Master Raymond slipped in poison into the drink, and Le Comte was forced to drink it.
Well, in The Space Between, we learn that he survived thanks to Master Raymond, who brought him back from the dead. We also learn that he is a time traveler, and he has a connection to Geillis Duncan. Then in A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows he’s mentioned, and we know that he and Master Raymond went through a portal as Master Raymond promised to show Le Comte more of the universe.
I need to see this story play out, and I want to learn more about his journeys through time. The best way to do that is with a spinoff.

Master Raymond
As well as Le Comte St. Germain, I need to learn more about Master Raymond. In the TV series, we only saw him in season 2 until the Outlander season 7 finale when he showed up asking for Claire’s forgiveness. Is it possible that he brought Faith back from the dead?
In the novels, Master Raymond is mentioned a few times by other characters, especially Wendigo Donner. He shares that a man named Raymond who fits Master Raymond’s description taught him and others how to travel through the stones so that they could change history.
In The Space Between, the last we saw of Master Raymond was him going through a portal with Le Comte St. Germain. He was also looking for his lost daughter in this story, who he found, but we never found out who that was. There are just too many questions, so it’s time to deliver some answers.

Geillis Duncan
We met Geillis in Outlander season 1/the first book. Then we saw her again in the third season/third book, Voyager. In Outlander season 2/Dragonfly in Amber, Claire finds out that she was called Gillian Edgars, and that she is in 1968, but as Claire tries to stop her from traveling through the stones, it’s too late.
Geillis died in Jamaica, but there’s 20 years of story to tell. Somehow, she managed to escape the witch trials, and we know from The Space Between that she made it to Paris before going onto Jamaica. How did all this happen, and how did she know that Le Comte St. Germain was a fellow time traveler?
I’d also like to know how she learned about time travel in the first place. Is it possible that she was in touch with Raymond at some point in the 1960s to make her interested in the idea of time travel? This is something a spinoff could explore, delving into her past in the 1960s and then her present day in the past. Now that’s a bit confusing!

Dolly and Jerry MacKenzie
I’m going to put two of them as one entry, as it’s their love story that I would love to see play out in a spinoff series, and this fits the Outlander brand. We know from A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows that Jerry and Dolly eloped, so I would like to know more about that. It wasn’t the done thing at the time, and it shows how young, naïve, and in love they were.
Jerry was then swept through the stones, leaving his wife and child behind. We have seen some of this in Outlander season 7, and it offers a bridge into a spinoff. There’s already an actor who could be available to take on a spinoff series.
Then there’s the story of Dolly after Jerry went through the stones. That isn’t covered all that much in the short story, but we need to see how she can’t believe that her husband has died. She refused to move on, focusing on raising her son and being angry that Jerry went on this secret mission.
Of course, this will mean the traumatic ending to both of these characters. It would help to share with people what actually happened, and why Roger didn’t gain any new memories of his father — time worked as it was meant to.

Frank Randall
Frank clearly knew a lot more than he let on to Claire in Outlander. That’s not surprising considering his job. He could have likely already had a suspicion that there was something a little more supernatural going on in the world. After all, he was the one who sent Jerry MacKenzie on the mission that would see Jerry go missing but his plane remain.
I would love to see what Frank knew, and not just after Claire returned. I think Frank had some sort of idea of things going on before he met Claire, and I wonder if he had an idea that Claire was genetically predisposed to traveling through time. Is that what actually connected him to Reverend Wakefield, as he may have known Roger was also a time traveler?
In Outlander season 2, it doesn’t seem like Frank knows Roger, but he should at least know of him considering he knew Jerry. Was Frank just very good at not giving away secrets, because Reverend Wakefield didn’t know Frank’s connection to Roger’s dad?
