Is this it for Jocasta and Murtagh on Outlander Season 5?

Outlander Season 5 delivered a heartbreaking episode for Jocasta and Murtagh. Is this the end of their love story? Is there any hope for the future?

From the start of Outlander Season 5, we worried about Jocasta and Murtagh’s love story. It was clear things couldn’t work out. As Murtagh fought for what he believed was right, Jocasta knew she could never join him. That has been made clear during the most recent episode.

At the end of Outlander Season 5, Episode 6, Jocasta told Murtagh the story of her daughters. She shared how they had died after Culloden, and it was all because of Culloden. She blamed Hector for their youngest daughter’s death, never realizing that Hector had a chest of French gold as they fled Scotland in 1746.

Now she’s decided that as much as she loves Murtagh, she can’t be with him. There’s no chance that she can be with him knowing how much he believes in what he is fighting for. She would never ask him not to fight, but that means she has to walk away from the relationship.

We got confirmation at the end of the episode that she’d married Duncan Innes. This certainly seems like it’s the end of the love story. Of course, she could choose to have an affair with Murtagh, but I don’t even think this is going to be an option.

During Outlander Season 5, Episode 7’s promo, we got the confirmation that the Battle of Alamance is going to happen. Whether it will be during the actual episode or will be part of Episode 8, it’s happening. There’s no doubt about it. And if you know your history, you’ll know how it will end.

Many Regulators will be killed or will be hanged after the event. I’m worried that this is the ending for Murtagh. Instead of dying at Culloden, he’s going to die at Alamance instead. It’s going to be disappointing, but I just don’t see there’s a possibility for Jocasta and Murtagh in the future.
