Is Roger just going to ignore everything Brianna has said about going back on Outlander?

Roger told Brianna that they can go back as soon as they know if Jemmy can travel on Outlander Season 5, Episode 5. Is he ignoring everything Bree has said in the past?

Those who have tweeted with me about Outlander Season 5, Episode 5 know that I’m not overly happy about Brianna’s storyline. She’s had one episode where the focus has been on her and all other episodes she’s mostly been support for other characters. And now it looks like Roger is just going to completely ignore everything Bree has said up to this point when it comes to going back through the stones.

Roger wants to go back. I don’t begrudge that. This is something that feels right for Show Roger, especially the more we see him throughout the season. But Brianna doesn’t want that. Her family is in the past and now that she has her mom back and has met her biological father, she wants to be with them. We’ve also got to remember she has a brother and sister-in-law with Fergus and Marsali.

There’s nothing for Bree to go back to. But Roger doesn’t seem to pay any attention to that. Now yes, Bree did say that she took the gem as Jemmy’s ticket through the stones. She mentioned it as being their ticket back through the stones, but she was talking about why she took the gem in the first place. At that point, she was considering going back.

Now she’s had months in the past; months to get to know a family she didn’t have in her own time. She’s one who has been able to acclimatize quickly to the past thanks to Frank knowing that his daughter was likely to head to the past anyway. It shouldn’t be that surprising that her thoughts about staying in the past have changed since she got the gem.

Roger needs to listen to this. It’s clear from the look on Bree’s face that she doesn’t want to go back. But Roger used her words against her. It was going to be hard in that moment to argue against him. Plus she’s scared, so part of her may wonder whether it’s better to go back.

However, Roger and Bree have come a long way. In Outlander Season 5, Episode 5, we had a chance to see Roger go back to Brianna and apologize within the same episode as the argument. Please keep the communication open and make him listen to Bree and respect her wishes as she’s trying to respect his.
