Happy birthday, David Berry: 5 hopes for Lord John Grey in Outlander Season 5
2. Spend some time with Brianna and Jem
Seeing Lord John Grey and Brianna’s relationship blossom was sweet. Now it’s time to see that relationship continue. And I’d love for it to continue with Jem at the same time.
I’d hope that Roger wouldn’t allow his jealousy to shine through. He has to understand that Brianna and John were “engaged” purely for appearance’s sake, but that a strong friendship formed between them.
I really only need one scene to see that friendship again. Something after the wedding, maybe?
1. Understand Jamie’s predicament and offer support
While John has his own views of the Regulators, he knows that Jamie is caught in the middle. Governor Tryon has no idea what Jamie’s relationship to Murtagh is, but John does. And he’ll know just how difficult the current orders Jamie has received are.
Rather than judge the situation, I’d hope to see Lord John Grey offer some sort of support and understanding. maybe even offer some words of advise or share what he’d do. There could even be a mention of Lord John Grey offering to get Jamie out of any sticky situation he finds himself in, but admit that he can’t do anything to take the orders back—different Colonies and all that.
Seeing more of John and Jamie on screen together is important. They have a bond that nobody else does.
At the same time, I’d hope to see something of John and Claire, considering the way their relationship changed during Outlander Season 4. As he understands Jamie’s predicament would be a good time to bring Claire into the conversation, too.
