Sam Heughan has been confirmed as Paul Newman in the upcoming biopic about Roald Dahl and Patricia Neal. Here’s all we know so far.
We knew he was in an upcoming movie, but we didn’t know much about it. Now we know Sam Heughan will play Paul Newman in an upcoming biopic about Roald Dahl and Patricia Neal. Hugh Bonneville and Keeley Hawes will play the two main roles.
Very little is known about the biopic so far. Deadline was the one to break the news about Heughan confirmed as Newman, with speculations in recent weeks after an Instagram post about the biopic. While Sam had been mentioned in it, we didn’t get to know the role he would play.
Production will wrap this week, suggesting that the filming has been perfect timing for Heughan. After all, Outlander Season 5 filming finished in November 2019.
What we do know is that the movie follows the lives of Dahl and Neal, as they moved to the English countryside to live their quiet life together in the 1960s. Newman plays a part when he and Neal starred in Hud in 1963, which saw Neal win an Oscar and Newman nominated for one.
It sounds like the role will be small based on the role Newman had in Neal’s life. However, it is still an important one, as the 60s saw tragic events that would put Dahl and Neal’s relationship to the test.
The confirmation of the role comes after Heughan announced that he has another movie coming up based on a book by Andy McNab. Bloodshot with Vin Diesel will also be released in February, along with Outlander Season 5. Sam Heughan is one busy man.
