Outlander Season 5 has officially wrapped filming
It is finally official. Outlander Season 5 filming has come to an end. Post-production starts, but here’s to a break for our actors!
We knew that Outlander Season 5 filming was in the final days. Now we have the official announcement. Filming on the fifth season of the epic time-traveling drama has come to an end. It’s time for post-production to start, allowing the dedicated cast and filming crew to get some rest.
Many of the cast members have tweeted about their final days on set, with Tim Downie being one of the most recent. It looks like we’ll get some more of Governor Tryon towards the end of the season, but will he be a friend or foe to the Frasers by this point?

Sophie Skelton was one of the first on Nov. 21 to mark the end of filming. She made it clear that a little after 3 p.m. ET, filming had wrapped. That was 8 p.m. in the UK. While not a late one by the nightshoot standards, it is a late one for final day of filming.
Caitriona Balfe followed up with a tweet of her own to congratulate and thank her fellow cast mates and the crew for their hard work. While Sam Heughan hasn’t tweeted as at the time of writing this, he had retweeted one from Skelton about coming into the final scenes of the day. He’d also tweeted the day before that it would be the final day on set on Nov. 21.

Now we just have to wait for the fifth season to premiere. The EPs will be going through the post-production stage with a few of the crew members. This is a chance to make sure those final moments fit together seamlessly, as the earlier episodes will have already been done. It’s also a time for a few reshoots to fit into the earlier episodes.
It’s all on schedule. Don’t worry about that! There’s absolutely no need for STARZ to push back the release date. That is set in stone.
What does it mean for Outlander Season 6? Well, the writing is underway. There is a chance that filming will begin in May 2020. It gives the writers a little time to get more episodes done, allows the cast and filming crew a well-deserved break, and offers the chance of better filming weather in Scotland.
If May 2020 is the filming date, we’re looking at March 2021 as the earliest for Season 6 to be on STARZ. It should be a shorter Droughtlander than the one we’ve just been through.
