We know we’re getting closer to the end of filming Outlander Season 5. In fact, filming for the final two episodes begins this week.
Caitriona Balfe shared the update on Twitter earlier today. It was after Diana Gabaldon revealed that she’s written Episode 11, which is “(no surprise) a brilliant Ep” according to Balfe. It’s one that Balfe can’t wait to start filming.

Sam Heughan also recently confirmed that the cast and crew were moving into the final episodes while on Instagram. He shared a little more about what to expect, including the fact that Murtagh is going to be in the episode.
The show tends to film in blocks of two episodes at a time. This means that episodes don’t necessarily film completely in order. There may be scenes from the final episode that crop up in the first section of filming based on the scheduling needs. All we know is that the two episodes are going to be full of drama and excitement. They are the last two episodes of the season, after all.
What’s good to know is that Murtagh has made it to the end of Season 5. There are even hints that there’s a Jocasta wedding based on David Berry’s Instagram takeover, which was later deleted due to spoilers. This could mean that the Regulators are no longer wanted men by the authorities unless Jocasta finds herself on the wrong side of the law or at least, tensions die down enough to allow the wedding.
Filming remains on schedule. With the last block starting now, we’re looking at the middle of November for filming to end, offering plenty of time for editing. Almost there now!
