Diana Gabaldon has written one of the Outlander Season 5 scripts
Diana Gabaldon has stepped into the writer’s chair for Outlander once again. She’s confirmed she’s written one of the scripts for Outlander Season 5.
As Outlander Season 5 gets ready for the final block of filming, we’ve got to learn more about the scriptwriters. Diana Gabaldon has penned one of the Season 5 scripts, which has made many fans extremely happy.
While she won’t tell us what the title is or what happens in the episode, we do know that it is Episode 11. That’s the penultimate episode of the fifth season, which means plenty of drama, excitement, and likely tears.

If you’re hoping that it will be the episode closest to the books, Gabaldon did point out on Twitter that scripts go through multiple rewrites. Some things are added and removed throughout the editing process, and not always by the main scriptwriter. That’s the way all TV shows unless something like Vikings, where there is only one writer for every single episode (EP and showrunner Michael Hirst).
Sometimes lines are added that aren’t even in the script. During New York Comic-Con, Gabaldon shared there’s a line about the snake in one of the scripts that was never added in by the scriptwriter. However, this line may not end up making it into the episode, whichever episode that ad-lib is in.

Gabaldon certainly kept the penning of the script quiet up to this point. However, before Season 5 started, she had said that it might be possible. Writing Book 9 was the most important thing for her this year, but it looks like she’s had time to fit in an episode script too.
The filming for Episode 11 will start soon. We can’t wait to see how it all works out!
