If you think Droughtlander is bad, try being a fan of The Crown. The second season debuted on Dec. 8, 2017. Yes, 2017. It’s going to be almost two years of waiting! And we thought 13-14 months was going to be hard.
To top it off, it’s going to feel like a slightly different show for some. Fans have been used to Claire Foy and Matt Smith in the roles of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, while Vanessa Kirby took on the role of Princess Margaret. Season 3 sees a change of cast, with Olivia Colman and Menzies taking on the main roles and Helena Bonham Carter stepping into the role of Princess Margaret.
The Crown Season 3 will see the story of the British Royal Family from 1964. England winning the football World Cup in 1966 will be covered and Deadline reports that the season will take us through to 1977.
Netflix announced the return date through a video that gives absolutely nothing away. Colman steps into the frame and just looks at the camera, with the return date listed.
This season has certainly been a long time coming. Maybe it’s time to stop complaining about Droughtlander when we consider just how long The Crown fans have been waiting. And they’re not the only ones who have waited almost two years for shows to return. Game of Thrones and The Man in the High Castle fans have had similar waits in the past.
Either way, The Crown Season 3 will certainly help Outlander fans get through Droughtlander. It’s a chance to see Tobias Menzies in a very different role to Frank and Black Jack Randall.
