Outlander Season 5 has another new face joining. Leonard Cook has been announced for a “featured role” in the series.
We don’t know too much about the role right now. Cook’s management company, which happens to be the same management company as previously announced new cast member, Mark Barrett, just shared that he would get a “featured role” on the series.

What does “featured role” mean in these casting announcements? I’d like to think that it means an important role. This could be a one-off role, but we know the single appearances can have a huge effect on our main characters. We just have to look at Season 4 to see how Morag MacKenzie and Tantoo Cardinal can have relatively small but essential roles
That being said, there are some important new characters in Outlander Season 5. This is a season with a homestead that’s growing. New tenants are joining Fraser’s Ridge, and Cook could play any of them.
Some of the most important people are the Christies, and there is at least one male member of the family who causes some trouble for the Frasers. Cook could certainly take on that role.

There’s also a certain member of the MacKenzie family. I do suspect Barrett will take on that role due to his similarity in looks to Richard Rankin but there’s always a chance that Cook could take on the role instead.
And we can’t forget that there are plenty of Regulators and Redcoats who will start to play some important roles in the fifth season. Cook could take on any of them. If the show is merging Books 5 and 6, then we could see some of the characters from “A Breath of Snow and Ashes” pop up in the fifth season.
