The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance: Developing the Netflix series sneak peek
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance took to the stage at SDCC 2019. This was a chance to learn more about the series, including the development.
One of the most highly anticipated Netflix series of the year is The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. A prequel to the 1980s movie and starring Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe, it’s not surprising that the SDCC 2019 was one of the more popular ones of the weekend. And rightly so, with a special look at the development of the series.
Unlike so many other shows and movies right now, The Dark Crystal is all puppets. There’s no CGI (except the green screening tools for the backgrounds) and everything is going to be as it was for the original movies. Those who are fans of the Jim Henson movie will feel like they’re transported directly back into that world.

What’s even better is that his daughter, Lisa Henson, is one of the EPs on the Netflix series. There are also many of the same faces behind the scenes, the ones who knew how it worked the first time. Not many are left but those who are around are excited about this project coming to life.
The SDCC 2019 sneak peek gives fans a look at the behind the scenes, as well as some of the footage from the upcoming 10-episode series. You won’t hear many of the cast, but you will get to learn a little more about the work that has gone into the puppetry and creation.
