Outlander ratings for the Season 4 finale are in and they’re looking strong for the total audience. The demo is down but not enough to worry.
Sunday night featured the Outlander Season 4 finale and now it’s time to look at the Outlander ratings. Considering it was the finale, seeing an uptick is normal, especially when it comes to the total audience, but this uptick was stronger than expected.
With the season finale ratings, it’s now possible to look at the season overall and compare it to previous years. Just keep in mind that these are for the Live + Same Day ratings, and don’t include STARZ app viewers or any delayed viewings yesterday or today.

TV Series Finale reports that the total audience ratings for the finale were up from the previous episode, which had already seen the highest total audience of the season. A total of 1.45 million tuned in, increasing the viewership by 14% and seeing a higher total audience than the Season 3 finale.
While the demo took a dip, it was nothing to worry about. Not only is Season 5 already confirmed (along with Season 6) but the dip was less than 2% to 0.23. This was still better than the second half of Season 2, which helped secure a Seasons 3 and 4 renewal!
Overall, the Outlander ratings average was down from Season 3’s average. In terms of demo, it’s the lowest it’s ever been but the total audience does beat the Season 1 Live + Same Day ratings and is on par with Season 2. I’ve always said Season 3 was an anomaly and I’ll delve more into this in a post later this week, dedicated purely to the overall season ratings.
The review for the finale was certainly mixed, but that’s been the case for the whole season. I personally found the finale enjoyable and strong and loved the cliffhanger at the end, but I also accept that changes have to be made and we’re never going to get everything in the books for time, budget, and creative reasons.
