I didn’t even notice that Claire and Jamie weren’t in much of the episode until the very end. Richard Rankin most definitely stole the show, while Sophie Skelton, David Berry, and Cesar Domboy cemented themselves as ones to watch.
Before getting into the season finale, it’s time to look back over the episode. Here are the five best moments. As usual, this is constructed with the help of TV Time.
5. Lord John Grey protecting Fergus’ part in Murtagh’s release
One of the moments that put a smile on my face was the very end. Despite Murtagh being a Regulator, Lord John Grey doesn’t say anything about what happened in the jail. This would have been a chance to share who was involved and who got away, but Lord John Grey protected Fergus and everyone else.
This could have been purely because Brianna was by his side, but there’s also the fact that Murtagh and Fergus are connected to Jamie. By sending Murtagh and Fergus down, John knows that Jamie would put his own life at risk.
Yet, John is risking a lot by not saying anything. If anyone found out what had happened, he could be arrested for aiding Murtagh’s escape. He’s willing to put his life on the line for people he knows would likely do the same for him if necessary.
