This time last year, we said goodbye to Outlander for a year. Here’s a look at this week in Outlander history: the first airing of the Season 3 finale.
Dec. 10, 2017 was a hard and bittersweet day. We finally got to see the third season wrap up its story this week in Outlander history but that meant we knew we’d go into a Droughtlander.
Sure, we got a short teaser of the fourth season. Claire and Jamie sat by a tree and overlooked the mountain ranges of North Carolina. We got to see Claire talk about how people would come to America for what’s called the “American Dream” (note: was it just me who started singing Miss Saigon hearing that term?) and Jamie wondered if it was the same as their dream.

However, we knew with that episode we’d be in for a long wait. But we got through it and now we’re gearing up for another wait as Outlander Season 4 treks forward towards the likely Jan. 27 end date.
The Outlander Season 3 finale
This week in Outlander history, though, is all about that third season finale. Geillis’ story came to a complete end. After her being whisked away by the village people, ready to be burned at the stake, Geillis revealed she’d managed to escape. Now she had the prophecy of the 200-year-old baby but no idea what that meant.
During this episode, she learned Claire had been back to the future and then returned to the past. She learned there was a child in the future. Finally, everything fell into place and she went on her mission to kill the 200-year-old baby.
Oh, how things didn’t work out for her. The set of bones that had been delivered to Joe Abernathy finally made sense. The chill Claire got from them was because she was responsible for the death of this woman.
And then there was Jamie, focused on getting his nephew back while protecting his daughter. First, he needed to get out of his current arrest. Thankfully, Lord John Grey came to his aid in one of the best burns the show has seen.
Pulling together storylines and saving the day, the episode ended with Claire and Jamie (and their fellow travelers) running into a storm that would leave them washed ashore in Georgia. They were in the Colonies and it was time to begin the next leg of the journey.
