Fandom 250: Where are Outlander’s Sassenachs on the list?

Outlander has made it to the FanSided Fandom 250 once again. Where is it on the list this year?

For a third year, Outlander has made it onto the FanSided Fandom 250 list. This is a chance to celebrate the loudest, most passionate, and supportive fandoms across TV, movies, sports, brands, and so much more. Where exactly are Sassenachs on the list?

This year, we find ourselves at #227 on the overall list. When it comes to the TV shows, it’s 22 out of 25, coming ahead of Westworld, Breaking Bad, and STARZ’s own Power.

Getting the bad news out of the way first, this is a drop from last year’s Fandom 250 list. Claire and Jamie’s fans made it to #137. We’re not the only ones who have dropped, as Power was at #143 and now sits at #228.

While we could look at why we’ve dropped (there is a lot of competition across all the fandoms), it’s important to look at the positives. There are lots of worthy fandoms that didn’t quite make the cut. At least, we did. Our hard work at supporting the show and the cast and crew is paying off.

The Fandom 250 is a chance to celebrate the support and devotion of the fans. You’ll find none like Sassenachs, right? We’re the ones that voted Diana Gabaldon’s novels to the second most popular out of 100 Great American Reads. While the Shadowhunters fandom may have taken over the People’s Choice Awards for Bingeworthy Show of 2018, the fandom was in force to make sure Sam Heughan’s movie The Spy Who Dumped Me won Best Comedy.

And then there’s the outside the fandom campaigns and charities. We’ll support the preservation of historical sites and donate to raise awareness and support for male cancers (Sam Heughan’s Peak Challenge was to run two marathons in two months for Cahonas Scotland). Then there’s donating to indie movie campaigns, such as Graham McTavish’s movie.

When it comes to a fandom, there’s none as warm as the Sassenachs. I do think it deserves to be higher on the list, but we’re represented and that’s what counts.
