Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 ratings: Upward tick for strong episode
Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 ratings are in and they’re positive. A strong episode brings in an uptick of Live + Same Day viewers.
It’s always good to see our favorite show get the recognition it deserves. That’s why I was happy to see the Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 ratings were positive. They saw a tick upwards in both total audience figures and the key demo for the Live + Same Day ratings.
I get all my figures from TV Series Finale, which gets the ratings from the Nielsen ratings. They’re trustworthy but they don’t give the whole picture. However, they’re a good indication of how well a show is performing.
Outlander does have the benefit of already being renewed for the fifth and sixth seasons. It also has the benefit of STARZ not relying on the live ratings. Due to the subscription-based model, it can tell far more than live ratings instantly. STARZ will know just how many people are watching an episode, a season, and a show overall.

With Amazon Prime (UK), W Network (Canada), and other international deals, STARZ knows that the Outlander live ratings in the United States are just a small portion. However, we love to see those figures go up. We know that people are watching and know that the show is getting recognition deserved.
The total ratings for Episode 4 went up by 11.50% to 0.960 million viewers. In context of last week, that’s almost a gain of 100,000 viewers. It’s the first time the viewing numbers have ticked up this season.
That’s not the only uptick. We also saw a 7.14% growth in the key demo from last week, jumping from 0.14 to 0.15. It’s about the same uptick from the week before, so shows that people are still there tuning in live and possibly new viewers are watching on the STARZ channel at 8 p.m.
Again, this really is just the Live + Same Day ratings. It doesn’t take into account all the many viable and legal ways to watch the series. It doesn’t count those who buy the episodes through Amazon or iTunes or other sources the day after or those who watch bang early on the STARZ app. Nor does it count the international views.
