It’s time to look forward to another new episode of Claire and Jamie’s love story. Outlander Season 4, Episode 3 is almost upon us and here are the top takeaways from the promo and synopsis.

Outlander Season 4, Episode 3 airs on Sunday. The trailer and synopsis are now out and it’s time to delve into them to see what we can expect.

This is going to be an episode that takes us on a wild ride. The titled “The False Bride” still gives very little away unless there’s something to do with a handfasting — because there are questions about whether that’s a legitimate form of marriage in the book “Drums of Autumn” at one point. However, that’s not something we can take away from the promo and synopsis.

Before I get into the breakdown, you’ll want to read the synopsis and watch the promo again. Here they are in all their glories.

"Jamie and Claire search for a place to call home; meanwhile, in the 20th century, Brianna and Roger’s romance heats up and then fizzles during a road trip that winds up highlighting their differences."

Just as a side note: I’ve fixed the synopsis. In some places, it’s written as “29th century,” which is clearly a typo! Unless the show is completely changing the books and sending Brianna and Roger forward in time.

5. Claire and Jamie move on

More from Outlander News

After the events of the last episode, it’s time for Claire and Jamie to move on from River Run. It was never a surprise that this would happen. Even if you haven’t read the books, you know that the two just can’t stay there. Claire would never live somewhere that she’d keep people as property. She just doesn’t believe in it.

However, they’re off into the forest to find a place for their new home. John Quincy is there to help guide them. This appears to be a slight change to the book story, so it will be interesting to see how this episode plays out here.

4. We finally see Brianna and Roger

After two episodes of solely being in the 18th century, we’re off to the 20th century for a while. Brianna and Roger’s story finally gets a chance to build. Roger is heading off to America to see Brianna with news about her mom. Just what could this news be? We’ll have to wait and see.

What is clear is that they’re falling in love with each other. Roger looks like he’s about to propose in the promo.

3. Brianna and Roger won’t be happy for long

As the two take a road trip, their differences will become apparent. Not only are they from different countries, but also different backgrounds. Brianna is a headstrong woman and Roger is a traditional man for his time. That’s surely going to cause some tension between them at times.

A discussion of what Roger has found could also be an issue for them. After all, Brianna heads through the stones at some point and she does it alone. Does she find out Roger is keeping something from her or is she just not ready for the commitment Roger is?

2. Claire finds the skull

You’ll remember in the Outlander Season 4 trailer, Claire and Jamie found a skull. This wasn’t just any skull but one with a silver filling. As Claire points out, this is something that won’t be invented for another hundred years, which means evidence of more time travelers.

Just what will the skull tell us? What can Claire figure out? And is she safe while in the past? This leads us to the last point.

1. Claire and Jamie meet the Natives

It’s been a long time coming. You’ll remember in Outlander Season 4, Episode 2, Jamie was warned that people who have shared his views about slaves in the past have gone missing and never come back. Have they been killed or do the Natives have something to do with it?

We may be about to find out. During the episode, Claire runs into a Native, who doesn’t look happy that Claire is in the area. However, this could be the start of a blossoming relationship once the Natives realize that Claire and Jamie are nothing like everyone else.
