4. Mourning the loss of Lesley

We’ve always known that Jamie blames himself of things that happen. In this case, it was obvious why he was blaming himself. He was the one who agreed to give Bonnet safe passage. Had he not done that, there’s no way that they would have been robbed.

Claire is able to talk him round, but this is a beautiful and bittersweet moment. Jamie is a man who will always take situations on himself. He’ll bare the blame so others don’t have to and takes losses of his men to heart. Plus, we got his guilt for having to bury Lesley in a shallow grave.

3. Talk of food to grow

More from Top Moments

Jocasta makes it clear that she likes the idea of having a man around who can talk business. This certainly proves to be a benefit when there is talk of the next things to buy for the plantation. Jamie uses his skills as a farmer to know what to grow on the plantation, proving that this part of the business is something that he can do easily.

There are two reasons this moment stands out so much. The first is that he can prove his worth and ability to run the plantation (and Jocasta is thankful for his input). The second is that it’s a brilliant throwback to where Jamie has come from. He’s worked the fields all his life and he is a man willing to do the work himself. Farming is his thing, and it’s important foreshadowing for later.
