There are many streaming services and STARZ has made it into the top five. What does this mean for Outlander?

STARZ is climbing in the ranks of streaming and VOD services. It’s made it into the top five, putting it a little behind the likes of Amazon Prime and HBO Go. This is excellent news for the shows on the service, including Outlander.

This could explain why the live viewing ratings were low for the Outlander Season 4 premiere on Sunday. After all, we know that the show is still popular and there’s a growing, passionate fanbase. More people are turning to the subscription service instead of watching it through the network.

Part of the growth is due to the likes of Amazon (and now Hulu) offering the extra subscription options. Amazon Channels is a growing way for people to subscribe to multiple services without multiple bills going out of their banks.

What does STARZ growth mean for Outlander?

More from Outlander News

Right now, the news has no effect on the time-traveling series. The series has been renewed for two more seasons after the one that it’s currently on. That takes us to Season 6 and could take us to the year 2022 depending on how filming and release dates play out.

Overall, the move for Outlander is in the right direction. If STARZ continues to grow, there will be more money to put into projects. The company knows the shows that are working and is in a better position to order more of those shows and more seasons of current shows. When it comes to the end of the current contracts, there’s a stronger chance of renewal into the future to see the whole book series play out.

Of course, fans need to keep watching Outlander. But we’re all tuning into that through our methods, right?

Good news for international viewers?

What it could mean is more deals with companies around the world. STARZ may finally be able to bring its app around the world, allowing for more people to sign up. This is something that is limited right now, even the likes of CBS All Access has the option for Canadian users to sign up.

It’s impressive that a mostly USA-based company is in the top five streaming services. There are some options in parts of Africa and Europe, but the world domination process is slow. Granted this list is only for the USA and it would be interesting to see the international list, but it shows that the growth of the original programming lineup is upwards like subscriber figures.

STARZ will see that people are signing up for the app and that there’s a call for the service elsewhere. This will help to bring Outlander to more locations.
