Outlander Season 4 directors for first four episodes revealed
We don’t know a lot about the actors and directors for Outlander Season 4. However, the two directors for the first four episodes have been named and it’s time to look at what to expect.
Outlander Season 4 has been quiet on the casting news. We’ve had the odd mentions here and there, but some upcoming characters still don’t have actor names attached. The same applies to the directors. We don’t know too many of them yet.
However, we do have the director names for the first four episodes. There are two directors (they took two episodes each) and this is a good chance to see what to expect.
We already knew one of them early on. Julian Holmes tweeted that he was directing the first two episodes when Maria Doyle Kennedy and Ed Speleers were cast in their roles. Now Outlander TV News shares that Ben Bolt is directing the third and fourth episodes.
Both have long lists of directorial credits. Holmes has done some big shows, including Law & Order: UK and MI-5. He also directed two episodes of the mini-series Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands and has worked on a number of Marvel projects, including Daredevil and Iron Fist.

This is a man who directs plenty of action scenes, which gives us hope and makes us excited for the first two episodes. Outlander Season 4 is set in the Colonies at a time when the Revolutionary War is brewing. We know from the trailer there are going to be some riots and attacks and it looks like many of them will be on River Run, so it’s good news we have someone skilled in these types of scenes on hand.
Meanwhile, Ben Bolt has experience in big and small productions. His experience is in both modern-day and period dramas, with a good mixture of romantic scenes, everyday living scenes, and dramatic action.
Some of his works include Downton Abbey, Ashes to Ashes, and Vikings. Downton Abbey will ring a bell, as both Maria Doyle Kennedy and Ed Speleers were in the show. They weren’t around for either of his episodes, which were the second and third of the series.
Outlander Season 4 is in safe hands. While we’ve not seen either director on Outlander in the past, their previous work shows us they know what they are doing. This is going to be one intense but interesting season.
