How did Sophie Skelton prepare for the big reveal in Outlander Season 2? Sophie Skelton shared the preparation and steps she took while at Wizard World Chicago.

Wizard World Chicago was an excellent chance for the stars of Outlander to share more about their time on the show, upcoming storylines, and their favorite scenes. As for Sophie Skelton, she shared her preparation for the big reveal in the Outlander Season 2 finale; that moment Brianna finds out that Frank is not her biological father.

Brianna is a daddy’s girl. She completely adores Frank and that’s clear with the writing in both the novels and the TV show. In the big reveal, she was hurt and angry that her mother had lied to her all this time; that Frank had lied to her all this time.

To prepare for the storyline, Sophie Skelton shared at Wizard World Chicago that she’d studied both Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan’s performances as Claire and Jamie. She wanted to pick up their mannerisms. When she learned about Jamie being her dad, it would be clear from the way Brianna acted that she knew there was always a part of her missing.

According to Sophie Skelton, the anger and animosity towards Claire aren’t just about learning Frank isn’t her biological father. It’s a defensive reaction, as Claire confirms something that Brianna has suspected or just didn’t want to admit about herself; that something was “wrong.”

It’s an interesting way of looking at parenting and biology. There has long been a debate of nature vs. nurture. While Frank likely certainly helped encourage Brianna towards a history degree and took her shooting, there was always Jamie DNA inside of her.
