5. Mrs. Fitz and the greeting

I mentioned in my rewatch recap that the greeting goes on longer than I remember each time. This is a good thing, though, because I adore it. Throughout the Outlander series premiere, we saw the lads as lads. They were together to retrieve Jamie and Claire was certainly the odd one out (and not just because she didn’t belong in the time).

When Mrs. Fitz came along, we got a lot more banter and more of a female aspect for the time. She was also understandably wary of Claire but gave her the benefit of the doubt, which is far more than Dougal was going to give.

Rather than fight against Claire’s requests, she brought along the ingredients needed. She was warm and welcoming once she saw what Claire was able to do. This is a woman who was willing to let a Sassenach into her heart and kitchen, seeing that she was doing good instantly.

When it came to Claire getting ready to leave, Mrs. Fitz went out of her way to make sure Claire was fed well for the journey. This wouldn’t have been cheap, so it was perfect that we got to see what the friendship turned into so quickly.
