Diana Gabaldon created the world of Outlander. On the anniversary of the series premiere, she shared her first opinions and thoughts, and some book fans may be able to relate.
If it wasn’t for Diana Gabaldon, the Outlander TV series would never have been created. After all, she created the novels more than 20 years ago, developing the universe and Claire and Jamie’s love story. So, what did she think when she first saw the Outlander series premiere?
The talented author has never skirted over elements she doesn’t like or the changes that she loves for the TV show. She also understands that not everything from the novel can be placed on the TV screens–there isn’t the time, there isn’t the budget, and sometimes the story doesn’t quite work for a TV episode.

While storylines may change for the show, the showrunners haven’t changed the actual books. The books still exist in the way that they always have. However, it looks like Diana caught herself at first thinking about the changes but is now able to view them as two separate entities herself.
