Outlander Season 2 came to an end in the previous week of Outlander history. This was the first week of the long Droughtlander that we hope will never happen again!

Droughtlander between Seasons 2 and 3 was hard and it all started in this week in Outlander history. Fans watching live waited from July 9, 2016, until September 10, 2017, for a new episode of their series. It was excruciating, especially to start when there was no idea as to when the show would return.

At least with the wait between the third and fourth seasons, we’ve known that the series would return in the fall of this year. Sure, it’s a couple of months later than we’d hoped, but we had an idea. Outlander Season 3 hadn’t started filming when the second season had wrapped. The only great news was knowing that two seasons had been ordered off the success of the second season.

To make Droughtlander worse, we knew that Outlander Season 3’s start would be a difficult one. It started the 20-year separation. Claire and Jamie would be stuck in different time periods, believing they’d never see each other again. And we had no idea just how much of the season would be spent on their time apart at this point in Outlander history.

This Droughtlander hasn’t been as bad. Filming was going on when the show wrapped and we’ve had the odd teases and spoilers here and there. We also know that Claire and Jamie will be together. Outlander Season 4 is about them finding a home together and starting their new life in the Colonies.

Plus, this season’s Droughtlander is nowhere near as long. Instead of starting a 14-month wait, we’re looking at 11 months. It’s still long, but not as long as it could be.
