Outlander Season 4 explores what family and home both mean
What exactly does home mean? What about family? These are questions explored in Outlander Season 4.
Home and family mean different things around the world. For some, it’s where they grew up or who they grew up with. For others, it’s where the heart is; family are those they choose to be with. In another fandom, Supernatural, there’s the view that “family don’t end with blood” thanks to that memorable line very early in the series. And that’s certainly the case as the “Outlander” novels have shown us. Now it’s time for Outlander Season 4 to explore that.
We’d already know “home” was the theme for the season. That was something showrunner Matt B. Roberts shared with us at the end of the third season. With Claire and Jamie finding themselves in the Colonies and never really having a place to call home, they’ll explore the meaning of that throughout the season. This is the chance for them to put down some roots.

Outlander Season 4 isn’t just going to be about home, though. There’s the discussion of family. We can already see why that would come up. After all, Brianna will have to decide what to call Jamie. She won’t want to forget Frank since he was her dad growing up; he chose to be her family and that should be honored–Jamie doesn’t want to take that away from her either.
Brianna’s storyline continues to bring up the idea of family. Without going into spoilers, something will happen to her that makes her fear how Roger will be around her; whether he’ll accept her. There’s a beautiful moment, which you can read about here if you do want the spoilers for the season (or if you’ve already read “Drums of Autumn,” so know them).
In a time like now, looking at topics like home and family is important. Outlander Season 4 has a chance to delve deeply into answers that will put smiles on your faces.
