It’s a sad day for all Sassenachs. Terry Dresbach has confirmed she is leaving before Outlander Season 5. What’s in store for her and the series?

Outlander Season 5 and 6 may be confirmed, but there is some bad news that comes with it. Terry Dresbach will not be involved. The costume designer, who helped get the show off the ground, confirmed on Twitter that she is stepping away.

Dresbach is stepping back for health reasons and to spend more time with family and friends. Many fans will know that the Outlander costume designer suffered from some ill health during the tail-end of Season 4 filming. This is possibly the event that helped her make this final decision. And while we’ll be sad to see her go, we do wish her all the best. Now we really hope she gets that Emmy win!

More from Outlander News

Don’t worry too much about Outlander Season 5. Terry Dresbach has made sure the right person is in the job. With all the characters now on Fraser’s Ridge, there will also be little need for multiple extra costumes. Remember, it’s all about repurposing in the 18th century, so we should see plenty of her beautiful creations on the screen throughout the next season, at the very least.

The whole costume team isn’t going. There have been numerous people working under Terry since the beginning of the series, so they’ll know the characters and the importance of good, historically accurate costumes.

Terry is arguably the greatest costume designer around. It’s definitely going to be hard to say goodbye, but we do wish her all the best. Her successor for Outlander Season 5 will be named soon.
