Happy Independence Day to all in the United States. Or as Black Jack Randall would call it: “Happy Treason Day!”

Fourth of July is special this year for many Outlander fans. Season 4 will bring us the beginnings of the American Revolutionary War, with tensions brewing in the Colonies. We’ll get to see important American figures such as George Washington and Governor Willian Tryon, which means plenty of talk of the things to come from Claire. And as it’s the Fourth of July (or Treason Day, as Black Jack Randall would likely call it), I thought we could celebrate it Outlander style.

There are many memes going around on Twitter and other social media platforms today. Sam Heughan has retweeted a few and there are likely many more to come. Here’s a short roundup of the best memes and mentions.

Independence Day? Just call it Wednesday!

My favorite of the lot is a meme taken from stills of Outlander Season 3. As Jamie learns that it’s Independence Day, he jokes about calling a day to eat meat, get drunk, and blow things up. What would a Scot call it? Well, why don’t you have a look?

Would this meme need to be updated next year since Fourth of July won’t fall on a Wednesday? I don’t think so. After all, it is just any Wednesday for a Scotsman like Jamie.

Black Jack Randall’s thoughts

Another good meme has to be Black Jack Randall. It would be interesting to see what would have come for him in the Army if he’d lived past Culloden. Considering it was 30 years after Culloden, there’s a chance that he wouldn’t have been sent to fight for the British in the Revolutionary War. Of course, he would have certainly had opinions about it, with treason being the main one.

The Fraser Fireworks?

LaughOutlander shared one last year that is definitely worth spotting this year. It’s all about the fireworks, but not just any fireworks. How about skipping the BBQ and opting for the Fraser Fireworks. They’re one-of-a-kind!

The Scotsman’s history lesson

This isn’t a meme but a little bit of interest for those who love history. Scotland did play a role in the American Revolutionary War and the Scottish publication wants you to know what that was.

Next: Happy Gif-mas from Claire and Jamie

Happy Fourth of July, United States! Enjoy your meat, drink, and fireworks! Just do it safely.
