It was the Saturn Awards last night. For the third year running, Outlander has claimed the title of Best Fantasy TV Series.

Outlander received three nominations for last night’s Saturn Awards. This is the sci-fi and fantasy TV series awards, which includes all types of science fiction, time travel, and mystical shows. Game of ThronesStar Trek: DiscoveryTwin Peaks, and The Orville were all shows that were nominated or won awards. However, none could knock Claire and Jamie from their Best Fantasy TV Series pedastool.

The Best Fantasy TV Series has been Outlander‘s title for the last two years and well-defended this year. Our series was up against the likes of Game of ThronesThe Magicians, Knightfall (not sure about that one), and The Librarians to defend its title. Diana Gabaldon, author of the book series that the show is adapted from, accepted the award for the show.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan were both nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor, but both missed out. Star Trek: Discovery‘s Sonequa Martin-Green and Twin Peaks‘ Kyle MacLachlin both pipped them to the post. Heughan is still to claim his own award at the Saturn Awards, although Balfe won hers in 2015 and 2016. During the 2015 awards, Outlander wasn’t even nominated!

The series was only nominated for the three awards this year. Here’s to next year when Heughan and Balfe will hopefully walk away with the awards, because we know they certainly deserve it!
