Sam Heughan not attending Outlander Las Vegas con

Fans attending the Outlander Las Vegas con in July to meet Sam Heughan will be disappointed. The actor is no longer able to make the event.

Creation Ents is putting on its first official Outlander convention ever in July. While New Jersey’s Salute to Outlander was announced first, the Las Vegas con will take place ahead of it. Both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were originally scheduled to attend the July convention, but Heughan has now had to pull out.

It is disappointing to many fans who had hoped to finally get to mee the Scot, best known for his role as Jamie Fraser in the series based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels. Fans have already taken to Twitter to share their disappointment, especially since no refunds are available due to con guests dropping out.

While Creation Ents hasn’t stated specifically the reason for Heughan dropping out, it looks like this is an issue with schedules clashing. Creation Ents does reserve the right to not give refunds for guests no longer attending. However, purchases of photo ops and autographs will be refunded, as they are for specific guests and not the convention overall.

So far, no replacement guests have been added yet. Heughan only dropped out of Salute to Outlander just before the weekend, so Creation Ents will still need to work with other stars of the show to see if schedules match.

This is the only convention so far that Heughan will not be able to attend. He is still set for Land Con 2, Salute to Outlander New Jersey, and Wizard World Chicago, which are all around the same two-month period. There’s still no word on whether Outlander will definitely be at San Deigo Comic Con 2018.

It’s possible that the reason is linked to The Spy Who Dumped Me, which is Heughan’s latest movie. There may be press or promo commitments that he is needed for, which will override the convention.
