“History, warfare, medicine, sex, violence,” the cover starts and that is certainly the case within just a few chapters of the book. This is about history coming to life, including rape, other atrocious acts, love, and family.
“Time travel, moral ambiguity, swords, herbs, horses…” More of the things that you’ll get from the very beginning. You’ll find yourself questioning everything you would do and what’s the right thing to do throughout Claire and Jamie’s love story, whether you’re on the first book or the most current.

Many fans have shared their thanks to Gabaldon for sharing the 15-year-old cover. For those just delving into the world thanks to the TV series, it’s new and exciting. Those who have read the books for years may have a copy of the cover and some have even collected the different covers from the novel–although many fans point out that they can only do it with the first novel or they’ll have nothing on their shelves but the love story of Claire and Jamie!
I’ve never seen the cover before, but I find it fascinating and beautiful. The Celtic knots along the side and the font choices all speak volumes of what to expect in the novel and more. This would have certainly had me buying it if I’d seen it 15 years ago.
