After looking at the best Claire moments, Jamie’s top moments from Outlander’s Heaven & Earth need to follow.

Jamie’s story wasn’t as prominent in Outlander season 3, episode 10. After finding out Claire was being held (sort of) captive on the Porpoise, he’s restrained and taken below deck. His scenes were mostly from below that deck, behind a door, with very little to do but panic. That doesn’t mean he didn’t get great scenes.

Here are five top moments from “Heaven & Earth.”

#1. His need to get Claire back

Jamie tried everything to get himself free throughout the episode, including sort of blackmailing Fergus. He offers his approval to marry Marsali if Fergus will steal the keys and commit mutiny. That sounded out of character for many, but it actually showed his desperation. After being apart for 20 years, Jamie desperately needs to get Claire back.

More from Top Moments

It’s worth remembering that the 18th century wasn’t a safe time for women. This was especially the case on a ship full of men. Jamie didn’t just worry Claire would be molested but that she’d be killed, even if she was supposed to be curing the sick. He needed to make sure she was safe and would do absolutely anything to do that.

#2. Looking through Brianna’s pictures

This was a moment that you may have missed. It only took place for a few seconds, but it was beautiful and caring. After weeks of fans crying out for Jamie to mention Bree and look at her photos, he did just that while locked in the prison cell. Donning his glasses, he took his time to take in the elements of every single picture.

Looking through them wasn’t just about wasting some time. Jamie missed Claire and he needed something that would make him feel close to her again. The photos of Brianna (some with Claire) helped him do just that.

#3. Understanding Fergus’ decision not to help

At first, Fergus considered helping but then he decided not to. He wasn’t going to risk Marsali’s virtue and life by doing something that wouldn’t work. This could have been a moment that Jamie shouted and screamed, throwing a paddy to get his own way. Instead, he accepted that Fergus really did understand and know love.

It was in this moment that Jamie realized how much his son had grown up. Fergus was now a man and had proven that with his thought of others.

#4. Giving the Fersali his blessing

Yes, there’s a ship name. Marsali and Fergus have officially become Fersali. It was in this episode that Jamie finally accepted it. More than that, he gave them his blessing. Outlander fans knew that it was going to happen anyway, but it was the way he did it.

He accepted that the two had been right, and finally viewed them both as adults. They didn’t do as he asked, but he isn’t angry with them about it. Instead, he’s proud of the two of them.

#5. Telling his men to stand down

When the captain restrains him, Jamie’s men draw their weapons. However, Jamie knows it’s a losing battle and tells them to stand down. While he wants to save Claire, he knows that his men dying for his actions isn’t going to save anyone.

So why does he then risk their lives with mutiny? This just shows how much he hates the confinement below deck. While he knows mutiny would likely be useless and kill his men, it shows more of his desperation to get to Claire. Mixed with his seasickness, he just isn’t able to think straight and be the guy he usually is.
