Claire took a leap of faith in Outlander this week. Will she survive the drop in the ocean?
Outlander isn’t afraid to put the lives of Claire and Jamie in grave danger. As Season 3 draws to an end, the two have been separated once more with their lives on the line. Claire has had to take a leap of faith to escape her British Navy kidnappers, while Jamie has had to learn that mutiny isn’t always the answer.
The Outlander Season 3, Episode 11 promos and synopsis are now out. With just three episodes left the race is on to reunite the two. Here are the biggest takeaways for this coming episode.
Claire survives the leap of faith
It really isn’t that surprising, considering Claire is one of the main characters of Outlander. Without her, there is no show. However, fans get the confirmation that she survives her leap of faith. She will wash up on the shore of an island, where she will be found by someone willing to take care of her. At least that’s what it seems. Will she be able to trust him or is this another one out for his own gain?

Now that she has escaped the Porpoise, Claire will need to find a way to find get to Jamaica. She is unwilling to let Jamie sail to certain death in fear of losing him forever.
Jamie will escape the Artemis
Right now it’s not clear how it’s going to happen. At first it sounds like Jamie and others have wash ashore, but on close inspection the Artemis is still in the ocean. There is the chance that Jamie decided to take his own leap of faith with a few trusted others. Fergus, Marsali, and Mr. Willoughby are the likely ones to have gone with him.
Jamie mentions there being no shame for grieving for men they’ve lost. This would suggest a storm hit and killed most people aboard the Artemis, but it could also hint that Jamie did cause mutiny and some of his men were killed in the action. Captain Raines did mention they were navigating difficult waters, so something may have gone wrong during this.
Jamie wants his men to have fun
Despite whatever happens, Jamie wants to make sure his own men have fun. He’ll “devise a joyous moment.” The big question is what will this “joyous moment” be? It’s not going to be easy if they’re stuck on another island, attempting to make their way to Jamaica.
Jamie has always put the feelings of others first. This would suggest that the old Jamie is definitely returning to fans, thanks to Claire’s arrival to the 18th century.
It almost feels like the end of Outlander Season 1
There is a slight feeling of Season 1 of the show in the way the storyline is set up. Jamie is heading to death, while Claire is doing anything to save him. The difference this time is she doesn’t have anyone to turn to for help. Dougal, Angus, and Rupert are dead and Murtagh is somewhere in the Colonies. Does Claire even know that Murtagh is alive?
The saving grace is Jamie has Fergus and his loyal men with him. Black Jack Randall is also definitely not there, so it’s not going to end with the exact same Wentworth Prison storyline. There’s just this minor connection to the first season ending.
The book storyline has dramatically changed
Fans have noted for a few weeks that the “Voyager” storyline has changed. That continued with the most recent episode and now it appears much more has changed. The title of Outlander Season 3, Episode 11 was supposed to be “Turtle Soup,” but has since been changed to “Uncharted.” That’s not surprising, since the turtle soup storyline took place while Claire was still on the Artemis.
However, there is hope that this scene will still happen. Rather than being on the Artemis, Jamie and Claire still have the opportunity to reunite and have their hilariously sexy moment.
