The music in Outlander has been as influential as the sweeping beauty of the Scottish sets and the intricate details of the 18th century costumes. Bear McCreary wrote a phenomenal score for the TV series, and now, Volume 2 of the Outlander Original Soundtrack is being released for our listening pleasure.

The album is currently available for pre-order from most major music outlets including Amazon and iTunes.

The Outlander Original Soundtrack Volume 1 is already available for purchase, and includes music from the first eight episodes (following part 1 of Season 1). The Outlander OST Volume 2 will include music from Season 1 part 2.

People Magazine got a sneak peak of one of the songs from Volume 2: “The Key to Lallybroch.” The song is from episode 9- the mid-season premiere- “The Reckoning,” which was the sole episode in Jamie’s point of view.

In the episode, Jamie and Claire spend a good amount of time trying to find even ground after Jamie has stepped over the line (with Claire) by punishing her. Of course we all remember the famous spanking scene! The ramifications are great with Claire and she makes it known that Jamie is not to treat her- or touch her- in that way again. Ever.

At the end of “The Reckoning” we see Claire and Jamie come back together as equals. They have each come out of the fire forged stronger than before, and top off the heated episode with a steamy sex scene.

Of the song, Bear told People:

"“To me, this track is one of the most complete statements of the Claire and Jamie Theme that I ever wrote for the first season. Their reunion – and subsequent steamy sex scene – at the episode’s conclusion is all the more poignant because we’ve seen them at their breaking points. My hope was that my score can help the audience feel as I did when I first watched this scene: that this is the moment their relationship truly solidifies, and is forever redefined.”"
