With Julia finding out that her husband is now the Grants’ bladier in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the focus was on getting her to Castle Grant. However, Brian really should have thought things through better.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 8.

Throughout the latest episode, Brian kept trying to get Julia to Castle Grant. It’s clear that Brian, Julia, and Davina have become close, and both Davina and Brian want to reunite Julia with her husband. The problem is Henry is at Castle Grant, and Julia is now married to Simon Fraser, which makes her a prisoner of a different kind.

With Simon going away for a few days to figure out what’s wrong with his ability to “consummate” his marriage to Julia, this opened the door for Julia to escape. Of course, Castle Grant initially appears to be the right direction, but the minute Brian learned the Grants had demanded Ellen take the purity test, wouldn’t that make him realize there was no point in going to Castle Grant?

Of course, Henry would be at Castle Leoch in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 8

We wouldn’t need any promotional material to tell us that the Grants would go to Castle Leoch. I was surprised that the MacKenzies were even planning for their own doctor to do the test. Surely, the Grants would have made it clear they wanted to oversee everything since they were the ones demanding it.

Brian should have known that the Grants would be there. Even if he didn’t know all the details of the demands, he would have known it came from the Grants, and he should have known that the Grants would want to be at Castle Leoch as it took place.

So, the idea of him constantly trying to send Julia to Castle Grant didn’t make sense. He would have known even if Isaac Grant didn’t go, Henry would need to go to Castle Leoch as the bladier, which is something we've looked into at ClaireandJamie.com. So, it would have made more sense for Julia to head to Castle Leoch with him.

Fortunately, it all turned out well in the end. Julia and Henry were able to reunite at long last. It was short-lived, but there is hope for the future now that Henry knows where Julia is. However, there’s a lot going on at Castle Grant now that could make it difficult for Henry to get away.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood airs on Fridays on STARZ.
