As Julia continues to write to Henry in Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 3, she makes a decision that could change everything. It’s all because of one assumption she’s made.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 3.

Since landing in the past, Julia has had a rough time. She was sold into slavery, and she is now at the beck and call of Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. However, when she can, she writes to her love, Henry Beauchamp.

During the latest letters, she writes that she believes Henry is still in their own time. She believes he’s with Claire, and that’s something that is keeping her going. Why would she believe that when Henry is sure that Julia is in the past with him?

Julia has no idea Henry followed her through the stones in Blood of My Blood

We just have to look at the order the two went through the stones. Julia went through first, immediately looking for Henry and then leaving a note for him on the boulder he once sat on. At first, she thought that he had gone for help, and she searched for her own help to get that.

It was only when she ended up at Castle Leathers that she learned she was now in the past. Davina Porter told her that it was 1714, with King George I on the throne. With that, everything in her world changed, as she realized that the stone circle and the buzzing of the bees must have transported her back in time.

She wouldn’t think that Henry might go through the time portal after her. With knowing nothing about time travel, she wouldn’t just assume that he can time travel. So, it’s only natural for her to believe that Henry is somewhere in the 1920s.

Julia makes a decision that could change everything

It doesn’t help that Julia is stuck in the castle. There’s been no mention of Henry the Bladier for Clan Grant. Even if there was a mention of him, his name Beauchamp would also need to be used. But Henry is going by Grant right now, so there’s nothing even in passing for Julia to hold onto.

With all this and the fact that she’s pregnant in mind, it’s not surprising that she has decided to do one thing to save her and her child. She has to sleep with Simon Fraser. This will allow him to believe that she is carrying his child, and it will set her up in the castle in a way that Davina Porter was.

Of course, there’s no guarantee of this, but it is a little bit of safety. Maybe this could give her some freedom, giving her a chance to get to the stones and back to her family.

We know how Outlander goes for Claire’s parents in the sense that they don’t get back to Claire. But what if there is a cross of paths somewhere? What if Julia tried to get back to her husband and daughter? There’s a lot of potential story here.
