Who is the man riding with Roger and Buck in the Outlander season 7B trailer?
The Outlander season 7B trailer is out, and it gives us a look at some big moments to come. While there is a big focus on Claire and Jamie’s storyline, we also get flashes of other characters.
If you jump to around 1 minute and 53 seconds, you’ll see a very fast clip of Roger and Buck riding away in haste. They have a man with them, and it tells us that a major storyline from Written in My Own Heart’s Blood is most definitely happening.
Yes, we are diving into the book spoilers in this post. This storyline is so great for Roger!
The man is wearing a World War II airman jacket in the Outlander season 7B trailer
If you look carefully at the third man, you’ll notice that he isn’t wearing clothing for the time period Roger and Buck are presumably in. They’re supposed to be in the 1770s, although we know they go further back in time thanks to knowing that Dougal and Geillis are part of the story. If they’re going further back, why does the man have a jacket that a World War II airman would wear?
That’s your clue as to who this is. It connects deeply to Roger, and it’s the reason the stones took Roger to this time while he was thinking of Jemmy. The stones took him to a different Jeremiah MacKenzie.
Roger is about to meet his dad in Outlander
This show is all about time travel. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising to learn that the man with the jacket has gone through the stones at some point—and in some sort of location. This man comes from the 1930s or 1940s, and we can look at what we know of Roger for this.
Sure enough, Roger meets his dad. Jerry MacKenzie went missing while flying. He was deemed MIA and then presumed KIA, but that wasn’t the case. He just happened to end up in the past.
Roger and Buck find out that Jerry needs their help. He is the reason they actually came to this time, and Roger says a quick “hello” and “goodbye” to his father, without being able to tell his dad who he really is. Well, not until the very end. This is going to be a bittersweet moment to play out in Outlander season 7B, but I’m so excited!
