The last we left Roger and Buck MacKenzie in Outlander Season 7A, they were on their way to 1778 to get Jemmy back. The books take them on an interesting journey, and we’re looking forward to seeing that play out in the series.

While there has been the confirmation of a few new and returning faces in Outlander Season 7, there is an important one missing. Jerry MacKenzie shows up in the books, but will we see him in the series?

Wait, Jerry MacKenzie shows up? How is that possible? We’re getting into some books spoilers from Written in My Own Heart’s Blood in this post.

Where do Roger and Buck end up?

Roger and Buck want to go to 1778, but that’s not where they end up. You see, Jemmy MacKenzie isn’t in the past. He’s still in 1980, and it looks like Rob Cameron can’t time travel. So, Roger and Buck have ended up on a mission that they weren’t supposed to be on.

They end up in 1739 instead. This gives them a chance to meet Brian and Jenny Fraser. They also come across Douglas MacKenzie and Geillis Duncan. There is someone else close to them who they come across, though.

It’s all about Jerry MacKenzie, Roger’s father?

Will Jerry be in Outlander Season 7B?

There are no signs that Jerry will be in the story just yet, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be. Jerry MacKenzie’s story in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood is essential to Roger’s life.

We know that Jerry died in World War II. That’s stated in the books. However, what Roger knows isn’t the full truth, and that’s what he finds out in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. Jerry didn’t die in the plane crash. Instead, he traveled through the stones in Northumbria and was transported to 1739. He’s in need to help while there, and it’s Roger and Buck who help him.

Roger is able to get Jerry back to 1943. Of course, Roger doesn’t realize that Jerry does get through the stones. He has no idea that Jerry was the “stranger” who saved Roger’s life in the Blitz in 1943.

So, Jerry needs to show up in Outlander Season 7B. We need to see that Roger has gone to a time period for a specific reason. He needs to go to 1739 to meet and save his father. Without that, Roger can’t be saved as a boy.
