With Outlander being based on a book, it gives us time to prepare for certain character deaths. However, there are some deaths that will always hit harder than others, and Outlander season 8 keeps teasing that one of those is coming.
The Outlander season 8 teaser already hinted that this death would happen, which is something we delved into on claireandjamie.com. Now, the Outlander season 8 opening credits haven’t delivered the same scene, but there is something that makes it clear that we’ll get to see a certain family again.

Fergus Fraser and Sons on Outlander season 8
While the Outlander season 8 opening credits deliver a few older clips from the show, there are a few from the upcoming season. One of those is a sign on a building that says “Fergus Fraser and Sons.” This is the sign that goes to the print shop, which we know Fergus and Marsali left the Ridge to open up.
In the books, the print shop is in Philadelphia. However, there’s a chance that the series will keep the print shop in Wilmington. After all, that was where Fergus and Marsali were initially heading, and it just helps with the need to explain the time it takes to travel around the country on horseback. Plus, in the books, they eventually end up back in Wilmington anyway, so there is an option just to keep the family there the whole time.
Either way, we know that we’ll get to see the print shop that Fergus now owns, and that hints at a devastating storyline. It’s one that we just can’t prepare for.
Henri-Christian may not make it to the end of Outlander
In Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, Marsali and Fergus face a devastating moment that no parent should have to go through. Their youngest child, Henri-Christian, dies. He’s trying to escape a fire with Germain, and the two end up on the roof. Sadly, Henri-Christian falls to his death, and it brings grief to all. This is also a bigger story for Germain, as he suffers from guilt, feeling like his brother died because of his actions.
The Outlander season 8 teaser already showed us a fire was happening. Now we have this clip of the print shop sign. It’s clear that we’ll get to see Fergus’s family, and I do fear that this means we’ll have to handle the heartbreaking death that comes with it. Maybe the casting director couldn’t find the twins needed to play young Henri-Christian, which could help to avoid it, but with so many other deaths that have happened, I’m preparing for the worst.
Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
