While we know they add to the story and Outlander is filled with heartbreak, there are certain arcs from the books that we’d rather not see play out on the screen. One of them appears to be coming on Outlander season 8.
The teaser trailer dropped two months ago, and a lot of focus was on the ending of it. There’s a moment that is designed to get people talking. Remember that it dropped as Outlander: Blood of My Blood aired, and it led to conversations about whether the two shows would end up connecting at the very end of Outlander.
All of this meant that certain other elements of the teaser were overlooked. Now, we’re going back through the teaser, and there’s a clip that makes it look like a devastating death is about to happen.

There’s a fire in the Outlander season 8 teaser trailer
The teaser has a lot going on. We get to see Claire and Jamie back at Fraser’s Ridge, and we can tell that there is some sort of battle to come. And sure, there are clips from seasons past, as we get ready to say goodbye to the series. However, there’s a clip that features a major fire that stands out.
In Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, there’s an absolutely devastating death. It shocks the entire family.
Fergus and Marsali move to Philadelphia to open their print shop in the books. While there, they start to receive threats, and then one night, their print shop catches fire. While most of the family gets out, Germain and young Henri-Christian are at the top of the house. They manage to get to the roof through a trap door, and that’s where things take a devastating turn.
Yes, there are people outside waiting to catch the boys, and Germain encourages his younger brother to jump into the waiting arms. However, nobody manages to catch him, and Henri-Christian falls to his death.
Roger and Brianna look to be part of the storyline in Outlander season 8
The events take place while Brianna and Roger are in their own time/1739 in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, so they don’t get to learn about everything until they return to the 1770s. However, the storylines have changed a little in the TV show. Really, Henri-Christian’s death should have been part of the season 7 story, but there wasn’t time to fit it all in.
So, it looks like Bree and Roger will be included in the storyline. Straight after the clip of the fire in the teaser trailer, there is a shot of Roger and Bree watching in horror. They’re looking up, as if they know the devastating that is about to follow and there is nothing that they can do.
One thing that this tells us is that the two make it back to the past. After all, that has been one question after the events if Outlander season 7.
This is certainly going to be a season to get ready for, as there’s sure to be much more heartbreak to come.
Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
