One of the good things about the Outlander season 8 premiere being delayed to March 2026 is that we don’t have to say goodbye yet. After all, with the images and other reveals happening during the 12 Days of Christmas, there are a lot of lasts that we’re getting, and we’re not quite ready.
The latest last is the reveal of the Outlander season 8 opening credits. From the beginning, the opening credits have changed to suit the themes of the season. In fact, the opening credits changed three times for Outlander season 2 marking the arcs in France, Scotland, and then Jamaica. It’s not surprising, then, that we’re getting another change to the credits.

Annie Lennox sings the Outlander season 8 song
While Raya Yarbrough sang the original theme song in the beginning, there have been changes now and then. We got the choir for Outlander season 5, Griogair Labhruidh for Outlander season 6, and Sinead O’Connor’s voice for Outlander season 7. Well, Outlander season 8 will see another singer take on the credits, with Annie Lennox stepping in.
There is nobody more poignant to sing the song for the final season. She is a Scottish singer-songwriter, and according to The Rolling Stone, she shares that she sang the real “Skye Boat Song” when she was younger, living in Aberdeen.
It was Bear McCreary’s wish to work with Lennox for the final rendition of the song, and his wish came true when she said yes.
A mixture of scenes from the years of Outlander
The opening credits themselves feature clips from the series. Every season has had clips from the past, but this one feels even more so, as there is a connection to all the years that have gone by. We get moments of a young Jamie Fraser from Outlander seasons 1 and 2, and we can see clips of Claire from her first time in the past. Then there are moments with Brianna in the 1980s from Outlander season 7.
Yet, we also get clips of Outlander season 8. There’s a shot of a Fergus Frasers and Sons signage outside of a building, making it clear that we’re heading to Fergus’s print shop, and there’s a scene of Jamie walking toward Brianna with a book in his hands, making it very clear to us that Brianna and Roger are heading back through the stones to the Frasers, as we'd already suspected at claireandjamie.com.
Coupled with the recent images of the various characters claireandjamie.com shared from Outlander season 8, this is an exciting but also bittersweet moment. It just means we’re a step closer to saying goodbye.
Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
