Julia managed to set up a plan to avoid Davina being blamed in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 finale. However, Simon Fraser should have worked out what had happened.

It all comes down to a name that was mentioned. That name is Beauchamp, and it certainly would have meant something to Simon in the Outlander prequel series.

Arch Bug said the name Beauchamp in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

When Arch turned up at Castle Leathers, he asked Simon about a man named Henry Beauchamp Grant. Simon hadn’t heard of the man, but he immediately knew who Arch was talking about. This was the man who he had seen at the Earl of Mar’s place, and it’s the man he knows took Julia. At least, he believes this man took Julia and his son.

However, Simon should have flinched at the name Beauchamp, and it’s something that may come up in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. He’s heard the name Beauchamp before. It’s the name Julia used.

While in Outlander, Claire decided to use her maiden name to protect herself, Julia didn’t need to worry about that. In Outlander, Claire had run into Captain Jonathan Randall, so she knew that using the name Randall would have been a huge mistake. At claireandjamie.com, we’ve even looked into why Dougal and Colum don’t recognize the name in Outlander considering what we know now.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the only person using the name Beauchamp other than herself was Henry, and so, using the name Beauchamp would have made more sense.

Simon should have recognized the name when Arch said it, but he just brushed past it. Does it mean Simon is dumb? Probably not.

Simon was too in the moment to recognize the name

I would suspect that Simon Fraser was too focused on getting his wife and child back. He needs the boy he believes is his son, sure that this boy is going to become King of Scotland one day. Everything he has done since the birth of the baby is to make sure the prophecy can come true, and so, when Arch first turned up, all that would have been on Simon’s mind would be the whereabouts of his son.

Given some time, Simon will be able to think about everything that has happened. He’ll be able to focus on the name that was given and realize that the name Beauchamp is familiar. This could allow him to put it all together, realizing that Julia and Henry have the same name. Eventually, he’d likely figure out that Davina was telling him the truth about the paternity of the baby.

This could then put Davina in trouble, but that part is up for debate. It depends on whether he believes Davina helped Julia escape or not. However, he should realize that Julia chose to leave and wasn’t taken after all. The name should give it all away in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2.
