It’s been a while since Outlander Season 7A aired on Starz for the first time. Sure, we can go back and watch it, but sometimes, we just need a few quick reminders of storylines. One of those is Arch Bug.
At the end of Outlander Season 7A, Arch was pleasantly surprised to find out that Young Ian trusts Rachel so much that he left Rollo with her while he went to Scotland. This means that Young Ian has fallen in love, and it means Arch can get his revenge.
Let’s take a look back at Outlander Season 7A to get a reminder of why he wants revenge.
Young Ian killed Murdina Bug in Outlander Season 7A
It all comes down to actions at the start of Outlander Season 7A. After rescuing Claire from being executed, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian made it back to Fraser’s Ridge. This was just in time for the fire to take place. You remember the fire that sent Brianna back in time for, right?
Before the fire, Wendigo Donner’s man pulled Murdina into a room and a piece of gold dropped. Jamie didn’t say or do anything at the time, but in the cleanup of the fire, he found a piece of gold. It wasn’t anything he had seen before, but he knew what it was connected to.
If you remember back to Outlander Season 6, one of Jocasta’s slaves said that Jocasta had been muttering about gold. Jamie had a curious look on his face. This gold is all the same. Arch and Murdina Bug had stolen the gold from Jocasta (Hector had it from the Rising) and were getting it to safety for their own use. Arch and Murdina believed that they were owed it considering he was working for Malcolm Grant at the time the gold was divided up between three clans.
Jamie knew that Murdina and Arch would go after the gold again. Young Ian ended up firing an arrow at who he thought was Arch. It turned out to be Murdina, and Young Ian was devastated that he killed her.
Arch Bug wants revenge against Young Ian in Outlander Season 7B
Young Ian offered his own life to Arch after all of this. That’s not what Arch wanted, though. He initially said he’d kill Rollo, but Ian made it clear that wasn’t going to happen. Rollo did nothing wrong.
Arch wanted a different type of revenge, though. He didn’t want to kill Rollo, really. Nor did he want to kill Young Ian. He wants Young Ian to suffer the way he does, and that means killing the woman Young Ian loves.
At the time, that wasn’t a problem. Young Ian’s wife was a Mohawk woman far away, and it’s not like Arch would go after her considering she had sent Young Ian away. The problem arose as Young Ian feel in love with Rachel. Now that Arch realizes this, it’s time for him to enact his revenge.
Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
