Will we see Richard Brown return in Outlander Season 7B?

Wen it comes to characters we despise, Richard Brown is certainly on the list. He became a menace in Outlander Seasons 5, 6, and 7A. What are the chances that we’ll see him in the second half of Season 7?

Outlander Season 7B won’t premiere until Friday. Nov. 22. That’s not stopping us from preparing for it. Part of that is looking at the characters of the past who may or may not return.

Richard Brown, played by Chris Larkin, came into the series in Season 5. He immediately proved to be a threat, running Brownsville and not easily joining Jamie’s militia. Problems arose, though, after Marsali killed Richard’s brother, Lionel. Granted, Marsali did what she needed to do, and Jamie took the blame for it when delivering the body. That didn’t mean Richard wasn’t going to eventually get his revenge.

Richard Brown likely won’t return in Outlander Season 7B

There’s absolutely no reason for Richard to return to the series. It’s not been made 100% clear as to what Jamie did during the beginning of Outlander Season 7A, but we can assume that he killed Richard. After all, it was because of Richard that Claire ended up on trial for murder and almost lost her life. Richard just wanted revenge and didn’t care that Claire was innocent.

Even if Jamie didn’t kill Richard, there’s no reason for the man to come back into the story. Brownsville is in the past now. Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian are heading to Scotland—although they will return to the Colonies—and the focus is now on the Revolutionary War. Jamie knows that he can’t trust the Browns when it comes to gaining protection for the Ridge as the war becomes a threat for them.

Richard also doesn’t come back up in the books. The series has gotten back on track with being mostly faithful to the book storylines, and it doesn’t make sense to change things by bringing Richard Brown back. There are plenty of other antagonists in the tale and not a lot of time.
