Outlander Season 7B teaser proves Young Ian gets back to America
If you’ve read the Outlander books, you know roughly what’s to come in Outlander Season 7B. Not everyone has read the books, though.
We have a lot of readers on this site who are show-first fans, and it leads to questions about what’s to come next. One of the questions at the end of Outlander Season 7A was whether Young Ian would return to America.
The end of the midseason finale saw Young Ian on a ship with Claire and Jamie. They had reached Scotland, making it clear that we are heading back to Lallybroch for some of the season. Not all of it, though. Young Ian will make it back to the Colonies, as the teaser for Outlander Season 7B tells us.
Young Ian is placing a stone on a marker in the Outlander Season 7B teaser
There is a moment in the teaser for Outlander Season 7, Part 2 that has Young Ian placing a stone on top of a pile of stones. This marks a funeral, so this has led fans questioning who he is saying goodbye to. We’re keeping this spoiler free, so I won’t go into the details of the books, but just know that he is saying goodbye to someone.
It’s clear that this moment takes place in America. Rollo and Rachel are both behind him.
Couldn’t Rachel have made her way to Scotland with Rollo? That’s not what is going to happen, and we don’t even need the books to tell us that. If Rachel was really going to head to Scotland, she would have gone there with Young Ian at the end of the Season 7, Episode 8. America is Rachel’s home, and she wants to stay here.
She promised to look after Rollo. She even told Arch Bug that she is only watching him while his owner (Ian) returns. That tells Arch who Rachel is to Young Ian, but it also tells us that Ian has always had plans to return to the Colonies at some point.
There is a scene with Lord John Grey coming
You can also spot Young Ian in a scene with Lord John Grey, who is wearing an eye patch! Now yes, Lord John Grey could realistically head to England. He does have a family there, but that’s not where he is. He’s still in the Colonies.
What’s happened to his eye? Why is Young Ian with him? Well, you’ll definitely want to watch the season for those answers. I don’t want to get into the spoilers in this post, but it looks like we’ll get more Lord John Grey in Outlander Season 7B, and I can’t wait!
