That’s a wrap on Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Filming has finished in Scotland, and we’re one step closer to getting to watch the series.
Filming of the prequel series started in January 2024. While there was a short break at one point due to weather, the series was able to pick back up relatively quickly. Now eyes are on when we’ll be able to watch the series.
Starz already confirmed that it would arrive in 2025. Just when in 2025 could we watch the series?
Summer 2025 is a potential release date for Outlander: Blood of My Blood
It’s hard to say what Starz will do. The premium cable network has to be strategic with all its shows available. We just have to look at how long it can sit on a show. Outlander Season 7B won’t arrive until November 2024, and we have to wait until “this winter” for The Couple Next Door, despite the entire series already aired in the UK.
However, we need to look at the earliest potential release season for the new series. Now that filming has wrapped, there is the post-production stage. This can take just as long as filming does for a series like this. Due to the period settings, a lot of CGI needs to go into making sure backdrops look like they would for the time periods. Modern elements like gutters need to be removed from housing, and signage needs to be removed fully.
On top of that, there is the ADR process. This is the additional dialogue for voice overs or for people speaking off screen. It can also be a time for reshoots if there’s something that doesn’t quite work right when it comes to the post-production process.
So, with all this in mind, spring 2025 is likely the earliest that we’ll get the series. After all, it will be at least January or February by the time the series is ready, and by that point, we’re likely getting The Couple Next Door. April could be possible, but I’m looking more at June 2025 as the earliest that we’ll get to watch Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
This is purely speculation based on previous patterns from Starz.
