Will Murdina Bug be in Outlander: Blood of My Blood?

More casting news came out about the Outlander prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood. One of the characters confirmed is Arch Bug.

Now eyes are on the other Bug that we’ve come to know. What about Murdina Bug, Arch’s wife? Will we get to meet a young Murdina Bug in the story?

So far, there’s no word. This doesn’t mean we won’t get to meet her, but it does seem strange that she  wasn’t confirmed at the same time as Arch if she is in the story. We take a look at why she might not be included just yet.

We don’t know when Arch and Murdina married

I don’t remember Outlander ever telling us how long Arch and Murdina Bug were married for before they made it to Fraser’s Ridge. We just know that they had been together at the time of Culloden. We know before Culloden, Murdina had gone to see a carline to get help to conceive a child. This comes from the book as I don’t remember that coming up in the TV series.

It is possible that they’re not married yet. We know Arch is the bodyguard to Clan Grant at his point in the story. It doesn’t sound like he’s lost two of his fingers yet—something that hasn’t happened in the series so we probably won’t see that happen in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

We could end up seeing Arch and Murdina meet at some point in the story. This would allow that courtship to come out as well.

Could we get Murdina’s story of the carline in Outlander: Blood of My Blood?

While this is Ellen and Brian’s love story, there is a chance that other characters will be more developed. This could allow for one of Murdina and Arch’s stories to come out. The show didn’t include the story of Murdina visiting the carline.

If the prequel series includes her, there is an opportunity for this book storyline to come out. Murdina heads to a carline to get help to conceive. The carline gives Murdina a charm, but says that if she uses it and has a baby, Arch will die. Murdina chooses not to risk that. She loves her husband too much. It would be great to see that story and to see just how much Murdina and Arch love each other in the series.
