Will Malcolm Grant be a love interest for Ellen MacKenzie in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

We know the basic story of Ellen and Brian’s love story. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is going to show us more of it, and that includes other suitors for the MacKenzie daughter.

Jamie has told us a little about his mother. We know a little about his parents’ relationship, including the fact that Colum and Dougal MacKenzie wanted her to marry a man named Malcolm Grant. Is this the same Malcolm Grant as has been cast in Outlander: Blood of My Blood? That’s right!

Who is Malcolm Grant in the Outlander story?

We know that Malcolm ends up being a suitor for Ellen MacKenzie. However, the main story that we have heard is how Ellen left the 1716 Gathering at Castle Leoch when her brothers attempted to force her to marry Malcolm Grant, the chieftan of Clan Grant.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood, we’re going a little bit further back than that. Jacob MacKenzie, Ellen’s father, is still alive. Malcolm is a younger man and his father, Isaac, is still alive. At this point, the two are the heads of their clans.

Malcolm should be a potential suitor in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

There is a chance that Malcolm will come in as a potential suitor for Ellen. Red Jacob did look for a potential marriage for his daughter before his death. However, we know that Jacob didn’t force his daughter to marry someone she didn’t want to.

That doesn’t mean he approves of a marriage to Brian Fraser, though. We have to remember the time period. While Jacob will have wanted his daughter to be happy in a marriage, it still needed to be suitable for someone of her standing. The idea of marrying the illegitimate son of Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, would not have crossed Jacob’s mind.

So, we should see Malcolm be introduced as a potential suitor for Ellen. We may see Ellen and Malcolm get to know each other, but in the end, Ellen decide that she doesn’t want to marry the man. We may even see that Malcolm doesn’t even necessarily want to marry Ellen at first.

Will we get to see after Jacob’s death and Malcolm become the chieftan of Clan Grant? That could be held for Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2, presuming that will happen and this prequel series hasn’t been planned as a limited series.
