House of the Dragon Season 2 reshoots reportedly happening this month
We are more than ready for House of the Dragon Season 2 to arrive in summer 2024. There isn’t a set date just yet, but Matt Smith thinks that it is coming out in August.
It’s probably a good thing that HBO hasn’t confirmed the premiere date just yet. It looks like reshoots are needed. These are reportedly set to happen this month.
The news comes from a fan account on Twitter/X. They say that this news comes from an “inside source.”
Will House of the Dragon Season 2 be delayed?
What does this mean for the premiere of the series? Well, in some good news, it probably doesn’t mean that there will be a delay from the summer.
Reshoots are a normal part of the post-production process. As the clips that were filmed are put together, producers have the chance to see how everything fits together. Sometimes, the dialogue doesn’t quite work, or there are times that an extra scene is needed to explain something a little more clearer. There may have even been an issue during filming that wasn’t spotted until the post-production process.
Reshoots only include a small amount of the cast. It’s just for a scene or two here and there.
It’s not surprising that reshoots are needed for House of the Dragon Season 2. The series kept filming despite the WGA strikes. Scripts couldn’t be changed at that point because there were no writers on set, so it is possible that something didn’t quite work. Now that the writers are no longer on strike, they can come in and tweak something, allowing for the reshoots to happen. It was better for the show to keep filming as much as possible than halt everything and delay the season.
House of the Dragon is available to stream on Max.
