HBO sets a season for the House of the Dragon Season 2 release

House of the Dragon Season 2 kept filming during the strike action, which means good news for those hoping it will arrive in 2024.

We knew that it was highly unlikely House of the Dragon Season 2 would arrive in 2023. However, we had expected it in 2024. It looks like the strike action hasn’t changed the plans.

This was a show that kept filming during the strike. Writing had been finished in time for the WGA strike, and the show isn’t a SAG show. The actors are part of Equity in the UK, and Equity made it clear that those who stood in solidary of the SAG strike wouldn’t see their jobs protected.

And so, it’s meant that the House of the Dragon Season 2 release can still happen in 2024. HBO has made that clear, giving us a season for the release at the same time as the teaser trailer.

When will House of the Dragon Season 2 come to HBO?

Like the first season, House of the Dragon Season 2 will arrive in the summer. This could mean a middle of August release date again. That certainly worked out well for the first season. It gets the show underway before the fall season begins.

The teaser makes it clear that the Blacks vs. Greens war is now officially underway. That’s not surprising with the way the first season ended. Rhaenyra has lost one of her sons thanks to her half-brother, and now she will want revenge. She believes the Iron Throne is rightfully hers, and she refuses to stand down despite the death and loss that is sure to happen.

Those who have read Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin will know how this ends. It’s bloody, and the teaser for the show makes it clear that we should expect that in the series as well. The Dance of Dragons has begun.
