The first images of Outlander: Blood of My Blood are out
Are you ready for the first shots of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. We get to see a look at Claire’s and Jamie’s parents in the prequel series.
As fans will know, Outlander: Blood of My Blood will tell the story of Ellen and Brian’s love. We’ll also get to see the story of Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry. Very little is known about Julia and Henry compared to Ellen and Brian, and there are certainly a few fans out there who are excited to see the tale on screen as it’s one Diana Gabaldon has always said she has no interest in telling.
Entertainment Weekly has the first-look images for the prequel series, which still doesn’t have a release date. The first-look images are a good sign that we’ll get Outlander: Blood of My Blood sometime in 2025.
The story of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser
In the images, we get to see Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy take on the roles of Ellen and Brian. These are two characters we’ve heard a lot about through stories that others have told us. While we met an older Brian on our screens, it was only in the form of flashbacks through a story Jamie told Claire. Neither character is still alive in the main series.
Their love story upset a lot of people. Ellen’s brother, Colum and Dougal, were attempting a marriage between Ellen and Malcolm Grant, when Ellen decided to run away with Brian and wait until she was pregnant enough to make it necessary to officially marry Brian. Being the illegitimate son of Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Brian wasn’t considered suitable enough for Ellen MacKenzie.
The two images give us a look at the love between the two of them. We also get to see Brian proudly wearing his family tartan. Casting had already got a great actor to play someone who could pass as a younger version of Jamie’s dad, and now we have a shot that is sure to bring back memories of Jamie when he was in Scotland in the earlier seasons of Outlander.
The story of Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp
While we’ve heard a lot about Ellen and Brian—and Gabaldon is even working on a prequel novel about them—we know very little about Claire’s parents. They died in a car crash that left their bodies so badly burnt they couldn’t be recognized. We know that at least one of them is a time traveler, but we’re told that they definitely died and didn’t travel through the stones. Of course, fans wonder “what if.”
That’s not the story we’re getting in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, though. Instead, we’re getting a story of their love. The photos give us shots of Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine taking on the roles, and they are beautiful dressed in their World War I clothing. There are shots of Henry in both civilian clothing and his Army uniform.
